My wife took up weight lifting to get rid of the baby weight, after researching various solutions. Adding muscle mass helps because that muscle needs to burn calories every day just to maintain itself.

She only spent about 15 mins a day on this ... that, with restricting herself to one soft drink a day, and she had the baby weight off in no time. You can add lower body muscle fairly quickly, and it doesn't take long to start making a difference.

I'd add that eating an apple a half hour before meals does a great job of keeping you from leaving the table hungry (or pigging out) at dinner time. I've also found that eating asian cuisine has allowed me to cut back on meat without really missing it. A good dish that mixes veggies and meat still gives me the meat I want, but I find that I'm satisfied with about half as much.

All the people I know who have been successful at getting off the weight and keeping it off combined diet and excercise. The people I know who've tried diet alone always ended up putting the weight back on. Just a bit of weight training every day, and a short walk will make a huge difference.

Good luck!

Liquor is allowed IF (you know there's an if) you take it out of your total calories. So yes you can have wine BUT you need to count it in your day's consumption.

Technically nothing is banned, just stay within the fat/carb/sodium limits, if that means your brownie is 1 sq cm, because tht's what you got left, then that's it.

Lunch was a black bean and turkey pita with a squirt of lime juice and an ancho chili.

1 ounce(s) Carl Buddig Smoked Sliced Turkey Light And Dark Meat
1 small Bread, Pita, Whole-wheat
1/4 cup(s) Beans Black Mature Seeds Cooked Boiled With Salt 1 teaspoon(s) Ancho chili
1 small Tomatoes, Raw
1 small Pears Raw

actual totals 536 113 21 4
recommended totals 1310 164 66 44
remaining for today 774 51 45 40
calories carbs protein fat

Leaves me plenty of room for a whole wheat pizza slice (homemade, and an iced coffee for after dinner studing)

Portion Control is a big part of eating right. It can be helpful to pre-package foods that will be too tempting for you.

Example: If you bake a pan of brownies. Read the label, what is a portion (for the sake of arguement we'll say a 1" square) Cut the entire pan into 1" squares. Set them on a tray in the freezer with space between them for 30 minutes (or until the edges are frozen enough to not stick to each other, now you can place them in a ziploc, return them to the freezer. When you want a brownie, take out 1 and only 1, thaw it in the microwave and enjoy. the rest are still safe and frozen, out of sight - out of mind.
