my dog is trying to kill us

Another reason for me to dislike dogs LOL I don't really dislike them, but they are too annoying for me to really want to deal with. Like a 2 year old that never grows up.

We put our dogs in a big cage with a blanket at night. At first they didn't like it and made a little fuss , but now when we bring it in at night from the carport and set it in the kitchen, They sometimes go get in it by themselves if they are ready to take a nap. It keeps them from getting into things and making a mess at night. Plus keeps them from jumping on me when I'm asleep and scaring the daylights out of me!!

If this were my dog, a crate would be in order. If not a crate she'd be in a room where she was not able to get into the rest of the house. IMO when you have to start modifying your life around your dog, you don't have a pet-- the pet has you

JUST THIS WEEK some dogs in my area were locked in the utility room - chewed up a LP gas line - and the house blew up!

The people were OK, the dogs not so much.

Man's best friend?? I'm going to watch my dogs carefully.

First of all. I am really happy that you got her from the spca. When you get dogs from there you really do not know their past. Sounds like she didnt have any guidance when she was a puppy. But she is in a well loved home to put up with the things that she is doing. I myself dont believe in dog crates. Alot of people really miss use them. Example....Leave them in there for like 10 hours or more. Or had enought with the dog and put them in it. Useing a crate for housing training a dog at night time is great. But after that leave the door open . When the door is open they dont feel locked up and they can come and go when they please. So you will see them use it more when they want to nap during the day.Or had enough with the kids. I would child proof your stove and anything else you might think she will get into. JUst like a 2 year old child.....This dog is an exception ......But you just have to love her anyway. No one is perfect.

When I was a kid (13)I was out west visiting our father who had a pig farm...I'M talkin' 1970's .I had BEGGED him once not to kill the runt of a litter that was born one day and so I took the little guy into the house..to look after...I was a city child...another Charolette Web thing....and my two brothers and I took turns through the night to warm up milk?(not sure what it was)to feed this piggy.....my Stepmother was in town that night...she was the one that medicated/fed the animals...well my dad woke up in the middle of the night and he noticed the house was filled with gas or propane..he lives in the mtns ...so probably propane...oh man He was ANGRY !!! ......very dangerous now that I as a parent look back at it....I wouldnt let a child do that...we never seen a propane stove before.....by the way we killed the piggy with kindness....My stepmother said he probably ate to much and he was the runt....

i dont work outside of my home so I am almost always here. Except to go to the store or pick up the kids, thats when she gets curious. She sleeps with one of us at night which is perfectly ok. I had beagles as a kid so I already knew the nose rules all. We love her and we will just be more careful, I dont think its too much to do for just a dog. If I had a bigger house I would have more beagles.

I know a little about her because the man at the spca knew the guy who dropped her off. She was turned in because she wouldnt hunt. Full of fleas, missing patches of hair and full of love and energy, the couple days after I got her I spent around $100 at the vet because she had bronchitis. She was outside the first 2 years of her life, feed poorly and is now living the high life as a couch dog with free reign of the fields around us. I wont crate her, she would feel punished. Sorry some feel so strongly about it but I didnt post for that kind of advice.

Beagles will eat themselves sick if they can get to food. We had a beagle/bassett mix that would take a bite out of the Christmas chocolates my Ma would set out. She yelled at us kids saying we were trying to see what was in it before we ate it. One night she caught the dog taking a nibble out of them!!!

My Aussie won't touch anything that isn't hers to have. You can put a plate down in front of her and she will get up and walk away. She keeps the cat from getting in to it too
