Not flaming or anything, but dogs have no concept of time like you and I do. By the time you got his section of the pasture set up and chained him up in there, he would have absolutely no idea what he was being punished for. Especially for 4 days.
Dogs live in the present, they don't understand consequences that happen hours or days after they've done something wrong.
People think they act scared or sorry hours later because they knew they did something wrong, when they are actually just responding to your current body language.
