My dog killed two of my chicks - I am so sad!!!

Quote:
The chickens were safe in the chicken wire and myself and my brother in law were there right next to them. The dogs were in the house. However, the boxer jumped up on the door and it opened up (it sometimes does that when it doesn't close completely). The dog was actually being very good and sitting there right next to me looking at the chicks. But one came over by the edge of the wire and startled her and that's when she did it. I would never have intentionally just let the dogs and chicks meet without being extra careful. These things happen. I can't fault the dog.

it scared me half to death! He has been gone about a year and half and I miss him and his antics.

I don't think so. Not unless they knocked it over and the door popped open.

My other 3 dogs couldn't care less about the chicks so don't be scared. No one knows your dogs better than you.

my chicks are behind chain link so it is predator proof and the dogs never try to get inside it so happened with strong winds and the possibility that youngest son didnt get the door closed good that one of my roos escaped his safe haven , my dogs guard against coyotes coming into the yard this is their first experience with chickens, I don't blame my dog and I sure don't blame youngest son, it could have been much worse , he didn't go inside and kill everyone and he sure could have. It's just one of those things that sometime happens.
