My dog was dog-napped --almost

That's great that you figured out who it was, and most likely stopped him from ever coming near your house again! He's probably the one that wants to move now LOL My husband always tells me I need to relax and enjoy my dogs, rather than worrying about something happening to them, but it's easier said than done. We have different problems out here though; rattlesnakes, horses, coyotes and lions...and occasionally guys who dispose of other people's dogs that annoy them. I'm sure if someone tried to steal one of ours (well maybe not the pointer LOL), he'd be out for blood. He's been through a lot more dogs than I have, but I lost my first one within a month of getting her, and the second after 18 months. They have 300,000 acres to run on here, but there's no way i'll let them run loose without me being around to keep an eye on them. We still ended up with two of them getting bitten by a rattlesnake that came in our yard one night though. I guess what i'm trying to say is you can't do everything, but from a dog lover's point of view i'd still be trying to turn my yard into Fort Knox. It sounds like all the ideas you've come up with are great, and I think locating the thief probably solved the problem of him attempting it again. Have you let the police know that you found him and he admitted it? I'd imagine his parents are trouble enough to stop him doing it again though.

Wow, guess I never thought of ppl dog-napping the large breeds. I know they will scoop up the toy breeds but taking something big is a lot harder and riskier.

Glad she is home with you and ok. I'd be a nervous wreck him or his friends would be back...

Terrible to think of what he had planned for her !!

When I originally posted I hadn't gotten thru the posts to see you have found the culprit. Did you get to speak to a parent/adult ?? What was their reaction ?? As the parent of 3-teenagers I know you cannot come close to controlling their every action but I would be livid had one of my children done something like that.

I did speak to his mom ( this kid is around 16 i think ) so I dont imagine she can control him- but at least she knows what things he is up too while away from her. I did let the police know I talked to the kid and they said if he makes any more trouble they will deal with him.

As for me and Abbey girl - our day is kinda back to normal, she is outside enjoying the sun with her yard mates, I have been doing my normal morning things-- feed chickens thier breakfast of oatmeal and cracked corn.

we will be starting the new improvments to protect the animals this weekend until than I will keep running to the window when ever they bark.

Hi, im so glad you found the little toe rag!!!
Can you possibly desex her? i know you wish to breed but My dh had 4 dogs stolen before he met me and they were not desexed yet, he was waiting till they got older. Then with his last dog he desexed him really quickly and guess what, no one pinched him.
I feel that professional dog breeders need a secure run setup so they cant be pinched.
Some breeding kennels here have very secure runs and are closely guarded. just a thought.
However i feel that if it was me having my dog pinched because of breeding I would run to the vet and have her desexed so I could relax and enjoy her as a pet.
good luck

I remember your Abby, because I have an Abby, too. My chocolate lab is due with her puppies in about 11 days. I can't believe that kid. You know he is going to get himself killed by doing things like that.

The dog is most likely pregnant though, and a thief has no way of telling if a female dog is spayed or not.

well desexing Abbey right now is going to hard since she was already bred to my male - so its a good chance she is with puppy(s), but my other female boxer Miss Daisy will most likely be desexed as soon as money is built up, but since she is so " mean " i dont think anyone will try to get her.

texaschickmama - good luck with your lab having her babies - I cant wait to see some pictures !!!

cara- I really hope she is pregnant this is going to be her first litter if all that activety her and my male were doing in the yard !!

I bet she is pregnant. It only took Abby Sue once. I took her to neighbor's house, since my black lab doesn't know how. He is quite the stud, once is all it took. It has to do with timing, and usually if a female is not ready she won't even let him mate.

Good luck with your litters, Mum and I used to breed and show cocker spaniels, too hard to sell the cute puppies!!!
im so silly, i didnt think of the thieves not knowing if girls are spayed or not!! argh foot in mouth disease again, its easy for them to tell if the boys are!!!

bantymum believe me with my male you would be able to tell - he is very blessed in that area !!
Abbey and Wally " hooked up " at least 7-8 times so I can pretty much say we will have puppies LOL even though we tried to keep them apart after the third time but they did everything they could to be with each other.
so the 64 days are marked and now we play the wait and see game.
