My dogs are missing!!! (from Canby Oregon) *Update, pg2*

Twister (the cattle dog mix) came home this morning!! It was bittersweet though, because now I know that my little papillon is out there all alone somewhere...

Hi. That's wonderful news that your one dog came back. Does LeRoy have a collar on? Do you have a woods near you? Have you gone out to search for it? Over the years we've had numerous dogs run off for this reason or that (our labs could scale any fence we put up

). We have wooded areas that surround our house. My son and I would go out and look for them until we found them and could bring them home. The reason I asked about the collar is that one of our dogs while out running, got her collar caught on a small tree branch. She was gone for over two days. I thought we had lost her but on our third day of searching, we were yelling her name louder than ever. In the distance, we could hear a faint bark. We followed the sound and after what seemed like hours of walking, we could see 'our girl' about 100' away. I don't know who was happier to see the other, her or I. But her collar had gotten caught on the branch and she couldn't free herself.
I'm not saying that's what happened to your but if she had a collar on that could have been a possibility. Have you posted fliers within a 20 mile radius around your house? Is Le Roy neutered? If not then he may be out sewing his oats.....

This same thing happened to a friend of mine. Her dog disappeared and she never wandered off. After 3 days they found her in the woods near their house and her collar was hung up on some branches. Thank goodness they found her!!

I am starting to see ads for a gps chip you can put into your dog. Then you can track them with your cell phone.
As soon as I feel better I will look into that for mine.

Hopefully the little one is heading home too just at a slower pace.

WOW! What a GREAT idea! I'm surprised that isn't already widely available...One could totally bypass the whole shelter scene, and if the pet was stolen....
Oh, and I'm really happy for the op - 1 found

HE'S HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a phone call this morning about 2 hours after Twister came home, from a woman who had seen my posters and then saw someone posting a "found dog" sign a couple miles farther away. Anyway, she called me and I high-tailed it over there, and there he was!! He had apparently wandered into the metal-fab shop yesterday like he owned the place, and the owner took him home last night and brought him back today, and he's been hanging out in the shop office!! I am so relieved, I feel like I could sleep for 3 days!

Thank you so much to everyone for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers, and to everyone with such great advice and ideas for searching for them!!

On a side note, the last time I looked into the GPS chips, the service cost around $350 a year, and at the time I thought it was rediculous...I'm not laughing now...

Great news!!!
Check with the cell phone people. Might need to be in the color to start with but not costly. Also I get quail information from a gun dog supply place and they have the chips for the hunting dogs.
