My dr says farm fresh eggs off limits during pregnancy??!

Cartie422, first of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Secondly, I feel your pain!!! Way back in the dark ages when I was pregnant with my first child, who is now 15, I wasn't told anything at all about which foods to avoid. For the entire pregnancy, I ate eggs over easy and had a perfectly healthy baby who's grown into a perfectly healthy "farm girl." Nobody ever told me that eggs should be thoroughly cooked. I am currently expecting my third child and am SUPER blessed to have a team of naturopathic-minded midwives watching over the baby and me. Thanks to them, my stress level is VERY low. One of the midwives has her own flock of chickens and hasn't said a single word about my eggs. Obviously, the advice you receive will vary widely from one provider to another. Just out of curiosity, are you completely comfortable/satisfied with your OB/GYN? I know firsthand that some doctors can VERY quickly turn a completely normal, healthy pregnancy into a miserable, stressful experience. Considering the constant and often frivolous malpractice threats they face, I suppose it's understandable. Another point I would like to make is that OB/GYNs are specifically trained and equipped to handle high-risk pregnancies; midwives are best for normal, healthy pregnancies. Do whatever makes you comfortable, but whatever you decide to do about the eggs, cook them thoroughly just to be safe. Best wishes to you!

I am currently pregnant with #6--here's some advice. When the doctors spout off all the can and can not eat foods just smile and nod. The science has changed since I had my first 10 years ago, and almost every pregnancy since then something has been added in or taken out.

I also eat lunch meat, fish, and occasionally even rare-er meat. ;)
