Just to clarify, I don't kick them, I use the foot lift. Stick your foot under the drake and lift him up and toss him. Not a kick. That would hurt.

ducky, he hates my dad and doesn't seem to mind my mom... she kinda stays away cuz she's scared of birds

but my dad goes out of his way to make Duckie mad. but he hates when anyone (other than myself) goes near his pen.

lol Debi i'm sure if i tried that he'd break my foot hahaha he's a huge boy.. if he was smaller i would try the flip on his back thing that ducky does with her Monty

I wasn't refering to any of your replies. We had a roo once that would come up and attack us. After he got our 2 year old it was standard practice to kick him when he came up on us. He went balistic one day and I thought I was going to have to kill him to stop him from jumping on me and spurring me. My boy was watching and crying and screaming. I fought with that chicken for at least 5 minutes. Since then I have learned to try to calm them instead of attacking back.

My (muscovy) drake went into a stage where he flogged all of us (and my four year old would rescue me with his toy sword, being my knight in shining armor (or spiderman underwear as it may be)) I didn't know how to deal with it.

And then we discovered that, secretly, one of the hens had built a nest and was getting ready to set.

Once the ducklings hatched we had sweet Fudge again.

I do this! haha.. I think it's more humiliating to get carried around like a puppy than it is to get a smack to the bill. I also grab his back and shake it a little so it feels like I'm establishing dominance.

When my menace drake was being like that I'd grab him and flip him over on his back and hold him there for a minute or two. He HATED it and it soon broke him.
