My duck adventure started when I decided to pick up four ducklings from a local farm store. I was overjoyed! I named the two drakes Maple and Chicken and the females Camo and Lily. Maple and camo were Mallards and Lily and Chicken were Pekins. They thrived and wandered everywhere. One day they wandered out behind the fence, which was unfinished, and sadly something took Maple. I was sad but still had our three happy ducks. Chicken was the best duck I could have ever asked for. He walked on leash, followed me, and was very affectionate. The two females were skittish but still very loving once they let you go near them. I had them for 3 years until sadly a predator killed them in their enclosure while I was on vacation. I was heartbroken and couldn’t think of what to do until I remembered that I had about a dozen of their eggs set aside from before I left. These eggs had been in the fridge for at least 3 weeks and I was unsure if they would hatch. I got online and searched this site to find out that some people had had luck hatching refrigerated eggs. I knew it would be worth a try if they had a chance of developing. As soon as I got home I went to tractor supply and bought a nurture right 360. I let the eggs get to room temperature and set them the next morning. After three days I started to see development in 5 of the 11 eggs! The eggs continued to thrive over the course of 28 days. On day 28 two of the eggs hatched with no problem and one required assistance. I ended up with three ducklings and I was so excited! The one that needed assistance couldn’t walk for about a week and wouldn’t eat on his own. I was nervous he wouldn’t make it but he ended up doing just fine. Right now I have these three ducks and they are around six months old. I call them miracle ducks. Their names are Bear, Bob, and Crazy and they are doing great!

I am in the middle of doing something similar. I am glad to hear you got three little babies from yours. How about some pictures of them?

So good to have you join, and what a story! How cool was that to get those eggs to hatch and now you sweet ones again. So sorry you lost the others.
Thank you very much! It was absolutely amazing and I could not be happier with my ducks! I am looking foreword to getting my call ducklings very soon! I have always been fascinated by the breed. :celebrate

The first picture is of them now and the rest are of when they were babies. They quite photogenic.
