Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and decided to join because I couldn't find a specific answer to my dilemma. I have a 2 y/o female Peking duck that has lost her ability to stand/walk. The symptoms started as a wobbly gait and within 12 hrs she was unable to stand. I immediately quarantined her, cleaned her up, gave her fresh food and water, treated any and all wounds with poultry wound spray (I did notice a dark brownish/blackish scab on the pad of her foot, which was enlarged compared to the other one), started a course of poultry vitamins and electrolytes, and put her in the shade.
NOTE: I also have 4 hens that are completely fine and have no complications.
She appears to be eating and drinking water and besides the inability to stand she seems fine.
Can anyone give me some advice?

Welcome to BYC - so glad you've joined us, but sorry you are here out of concern for your duck. The section @barred2rock linked you above is where you'll find a bunch of duck experts and I suspect one of them can likely help you (and your duck!)

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice and links already so I'll just say hello!

From what I've read on these forums I'd try out a niacin supplement. I picked up capsules at local dollar general for $5. Believe drinking water dose was 1/4-1/2 capsule to 1 gallon. I eyeballed it and gave to ducklings as sole drinking source. It can't hurt and some people reported it clearing up their ducks walking issues. Unless your feeding a duck specific feed it's probably lacking and even if you are it might not have enough. Good luck with your gal though, hope she gets better.

It could be bumblefoot (the photo is from another article about bumblefoot link here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/please-help-is-this-bumblefoot.658162/

Ooo ty for pic! I have 4 adults(Muscovy) and their two clutches of about 16 free roaming so now I will know what to look for/how to treat if any get bumble foot.

I agree, sounds like she would have bumblefoot. Please put that in the search box to see if the symptoms match. Ducks can also have a niacin deficiency but, I believe that happens most with ducklings. Brewer's yeast, can be added to the feed.

If would be beneficial to post on the "duck thread," where they really know their ducks.
