My duck/chicken life

That's true and they are smart
Yes. They saw me one morning and promptly left. Then a few hours later, as if they were waiting for me to go back onside, it came back again. That's when I shooed everyone in their penn for the rest of the day, wich wasn't easy.

What was it?
Avian influenza is sweeping our area. Most of their symptoms matched what we saw in our birds. All but three. Each bird only showed a few of the symptoms, but when you look at all our sick and death cases together it matches almost to a tee. Wich explains why most anything we tried to use on them wasn't working. Now any birds that survive this will be carrier's all their lives. We will never be a le to add new birds to our main flock or bantam flock again sadly. Wich means no hatching babies for us this year.

That's sad.
Even little tiny, the only chick that got it that managed to survive it. She is still holding good weight. Pretty soon it'll be warm enough for her to go outside alone and not freeze to death. We planned to hatch chick companions for her..... now we have to figure something else out.:barnie:he:rant:hit:oops:

I do this to avian influenza:smack🤬💩☠️

It took our first planned heir for big red. His name was little red, a herritage rhode island red. It also took quackery parent, lake. It also took oreo (rip my baby boy. I raised him from a duckling. I was his momma!) We have his daughter, lacy. She is a stunner. It also took tiny's mother, charcoal.
