My duck eggs hatching early!?!? Did I do something wrong?

I have texted everyone I know! (I think all my friends think I'm nuts!)

We all understand here so feel free to squeee all you like.

Cute babies. I have had a few hatch early and some will start their pipping on lockdown. I had one hatch on lockdown day. I still don't know why but I am thinking the temp was higher than the thermometer read. I don't see anything you are doing wrong so I'd just keep doing what you are doing if they are hatching out healthy. I love hatching baby ducks!

Important to remember that these "incubation days" are a guide, not a rule. It's said that peafowl eggs take 28 days, but here mine hatch under hens *or* in the incubator at 26-27 days.

This has been my first go at hatching. I have been raising ducks and chickens for a few years now for eggs, but I never could eat my duck eggs... I have sold them and fed them to others, but my ducks are my babies! I talk to them like kids and call them by quacking. I'm glad no one on byc thinks I'm nuts cuz all my neighbors do!!

When I'm outside I look like the pied piper and I usually have a chicken in tote.

Incubation is a learning experience all the time. I enjoy it though. I usually just hatch through spring and summer and then I'm done until the following spring. It's the one thing I look forward to in springtime and helps me get through the winter months lol.

Thank you! I am loving the experience and so are my kids! I have a friend that wants me to run some quail eggs through when these guys are done. Looks like my ducks have taken a break from laying so I might give it a shot.
