My duck eggs hatching early!?!? Did I do something wrong?

Hello,
I am hatching ducks for the first time too and I have some questions. I read through this entire thread and there seems to be some very knowledgeable people here! I'm only 5 days in on the incubation period, so no chicks yet! But, would it be ok if I posted my questions here? Thanks!

By all means stick around! I'm happy to have someone else asking questions! Could ask a question I haven't thought of yet. I still have lots to learn!

Lol! Not fighting it! The second batch got started a week and a half after my less than successful first ever batch. My girls started laying again so in 7 days, I am going to be putting a new batch in incubator #1! Also a friend of ours has quail, I am gonna try to hatch him out a batch of quail too... Yes, I have the disease!! I think I need a third incubator! Lol

Teacherchick, do you know if the muscovies were allowed to mate with the others, or did she just not label the eggs? I ask because I was reading if a mallard-derived female mates with a muscovy male, the incubation is 4 weeks. If its a muscovy female, and mallard-derived male, the incubation is 5 weeks. So it depends on the female.

As far as I know, she made it sound like the Muscovys are in their own pen, and the other birds free range. The others tend to sneak in and out of the Muscovy pen and will lay their eggs all over. I suppose that cross breeding with them could happen, but I really don't know. I guess we will see when hatch time comes!

I will start misting them. I can't seem to get the humidity to go back down too much. Not sure why, there isn't any water in there at all....Nevermind, scratch that, I just looked and the humidity is back down to 35%.

Here's another tricky question, I have chicken eggs going in there with the ducks. (My sweet husband thought he was being such a good helper last week, putting eggs in the incubator, he didn't know that I was needing the incubator in a week for my duck eggs to start!) So, I have some chicken eggs that are on day 12 along with my duck eggs that are on day 6 now. If I mist the duck eggs, should I remove them from the bator to do that and then put them back? Or do it in the bator and cover the chicken eggs?

Oh I see about the muscovies and other ducks. I thought maybe they were just all together. You are going to have some interesting things going on! How many chicken eggs? I ask because with them hatching first, they can make quite a mess in there. I saw a post where someone made dividers out of that craft plastic canvas, ya know, with the square holes. I think its used with yarn? You might try sectioning them off. Actually another Bator would be ideal lol.
I never misted my ducks, but have heard it can be beneficial, so I think I would hold a piece of paper over the chicken eggs or something. Maybe lay paper towel on them. A little isn't going to hurt them but they don't need it. I don't know how the ducks will react when you increase the humidity for the chicks to hatch. That's alot going on in there!
