We are in Texas and temps are mid 60's for the high and mid 40's for the low. I feel very uneducated on my ducks and geese because i don't know about their molt. Please educate me. We rescued these babies 1 1/2 years ago. Talking with all of you here has brought to light a ton of inaccurate information i have gotten from searching online. NO MORE! I will only get my info from this forum. Most of the time it will take care of it self once she can preen that area. Is she due for a molt? That can help too. I’d watch she doesn’t chill if it’s cold where you are since her water proofing isn’t in its prime.
Yes ma'am. But we put it in the flocks water. Would you recommend i continue to specifically dose her separately? We put approximately 6 ml in a 3 gallon waterer.Be sure to keep her on the b complex too.
Okay. How long does their molt last?Good for her! Agree with @Miss Lydia give it some time and she will be oily again! I think it varies with climate and breed, but my ducks have been molting for about a month now. That could be part of the reason too.
Okay! I did see lots of feathers laying around back a couple of weeks ago. Even now when they shake and flap their wings they loose a few. So possible they are coming out of molt. Waddles is a Peking and those were the feathers we were seeing. We will keep a close eye on her to ensure she keeps progressing. It depends on how hard (how much they replace) they molt. Anywhere from just a couple weeks to a whole month or more.
Unless it's Runners...I think they molt constantly![]()
