Maybe you will have other animal later on.I had a duck sitting on eggs for a little under 30 days, and 1 week old ducklings next to her brooding cage. She made the decision to adopt those week old ducklings over sitting on her still viable egg. So we let her have those older ducklings, which she is fiercely protective of. She practically tore my skin when I tried to pick one up today. So now I have a viable duck egg in the incubator, and a really happy momma duck outside with her week old adoptees.View attachment 2718169View attachment 2718170View attachment 2718174View attachment 2718176

Of course we will. Chickens, ducks, turkey, quail, and rabbits are all raised here. She'll have another chance to hatch again.Maybe you will have other animal later on.
That’s adorable!Sometimes, I wish humans were as accepting of each other as animals are. We have a single duck that I “inherited” that is actually being raised by a Buff Orpington along with her seven week old chicks. We think the duck is about the same age but they get along beautifully.
