I’m so so so happy my duck is broody! I’ve never had a broody duck before! Or any other poultry be broody before!

Any help on what to do?

She has been sitting for a few days I think she started sometime last week. She is super loud and I hope
She will be a good mother and not scare her babies away. Lol

Not all will but it’s always best to Er on the side of caution because we never know. Give them 2-3 weeks where they are set up where the drake can see them then when you let them all be together the ducklings will be able to stay away from dad better if you don’t let them out of the pen then give the duckling places where they can get away and hide in case the drake starts picking on them.

Thanks guys so much I will do that if I have any babies. They all say don’t count you eggs before they hatch or something like that. Lol

We rescued her and her drake friend from some duck murders (dogs) and now they are fat and happy. Lol

The boy is brownish white ish and has a grey head of that helps. She is all brown ish and white ish

Cool, some ducks will go broody but are bad about abandoning the nest half way. So I was just wondering. I know pekin and cayugas are bad moms but I don't know about buff orpington. It's best to keep the rest of the flock away, keep her a little food and water close by, and just not mess with them to much. Good luck.

Thanks y’all have been such a big help!

How long is the time for eggs to hatch? How long do I need to keep the ducklings form the drakes?
