Hi, I assume your duck can fly. You may find that suddenly she´s come home, maybe to make her nest where she knows it´s safe! After all, she´s found herself a guy!

3 of my muscovies are little stop-outs. One stayed away for a few days in the neighbour´s place until she decided to come home and has never gone off again. Another one is a right 'traveller'. She gets everywhere, but in the end comes back, sometimes after some weeks or even months..... My hubby calls her the homing duck because I sold her twice and she came back home!

And a third one is a little tart and goes off to tease the drake next door, then flies back here out of his reach and my drake then tries to fight with the other one through the fence!

If your place is well fenced in you could try clipping a wing when you get her back, but having said that, one of my ducks can scale a 6' fence with a clipped wing! Muscovies are something else!

And just out of interest, another neighbour´s pekin ducks go for walkabout everyday across the fields...so funny, 2 drakes and a duck. I don´t know how they survive. at least a muscovy duck can normally get out of trouble by flying.

(Oh, btw MLyd, 2 new ducklings are hatching...)

So how did she get out of the coop? Is there no cover on it? In which case she flew, or they can push through some tiny gaps too.
