hey everyone in after some advice I have a duckling that's is 5-6 weeks old, I noticed the other day that it was limping around on it's leg, but didn't seem to be in pain so thought it may just sort it self out in time (couldn't see any swelling or cuts). today it seems to be making alot of noise and is barley walking it drags itself around. I have separated it from the other 11 so it doesn't cause any more harm. it came straight to me like it wanted help from me and it's happy been separated from the others. I was wondering if anyone could help with what it could be or what I can do to help? I was sending them all to a farm this week as I can't keep them and deserve a good life in a bigger space but I really don't want to send this one and I'm thinking of keeping it as id hate for the worse to happen. I also have a duckling that is about 3 weeks younger and was wondering if I could put them together?

I'd def try putting the 2 together they always seem to do better with a friend than alone.
I would also try some niacin this could very well be the problem and is a inexpensive treatment. Make sure neither picks on the other.

You can buy niacin tab and crush and add to the drinking water 150mgs to 1 gallon of water or buy Nutritional/Brewers yeast and add 1 Tab per cup of feed. daily for both of these.

With supervision place your duckling in some nice warm water and see if it can use it's legs at all while floating. If it can do this daily 2X a day if you can to help it gain strength in it's legs and release pressure. But it needs the niacin as well.

No swelling or redness or heat? signs of inflammation?

yes they have had niacin since about week 2 but I ran out so not had it for a few days. i have noticed abit of swelling now since iv moved it away from others I'm going to give it a bath and hope that it will help but gonna keep this one with me and introduce it to the other one as I can't let it go to a farm possibly not fend for itself

hey my ducks still not standing and dragging herself around she stands a little after having a bath and she's started to try and stand but doesn't really get anywear with it. would u no of anything else it could be?

Might be an injury they can take quite a while to heal. Have you started it back on Nutritional yeast or niacin?

Water therapy and rest will help with healing. Having 12 ducklings together anything could have happened she may have gotten trampled or stepped on.

yes she's back on niacin I think it will just take time I'm just worrying thankyou

You can give chickweed or plantain for imflamation if you have any growing in your yard. And tumeric is natural pain reliever...so is chickweed which is high in nutrients too. And parsley is high in niacin.
ooo il have a look in the garden I give her peas and mushrooms as I no those are high in niacin too
