My duckling won’t stay under their heat lamp

It hatched this morning and is very attached to our kittens. When I take it away to put it in its own cage with its heat lamp, food, water etc, it starts quacking and trying to get out (I think). Is this normal or should I be worried. (If so what can I do about it)

Welcome to BYC
Normal. Ducklings are highly social creatures and will attempt to bond with whatever they deem suitable if there are no other ducks around. For its own survival, it would much rather be with the kittens, than by itself.
If you do not have any other eggs hatching, you need to pick up a couple more ducklings that it can stay with.
