:( My ducks are murderers :(

I wouldn't believe it, but I saw it with my own eyed
it all started 3 days ago when one of my bantam hens showed up with 9 tiny hatchlings.
needless to say I was shocked. pretty disappointed too. I thought this was over for the year . Any way the very next morning I heard the chicks peeping with no mamma in sight. She would hide them at night and bring them to the feeding area in the morning.
Well next thing you know my ducks are acting like monsters, pecking and stomping the babies. I didn't realize what was going on until I chased them away and found the dead chicks.
I thought they were just harassing's them. JERKS!
Now I have the 6 survivors in my backroom. My sweet momma hen Sophia is gone and my ducks are Murderers.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm glad you were able to save 6. Ducks can be vicious to littles that aren't their own.

Sorry but yes Ducks and chickens are cannibals find Mom put her with her peeps till they are older if possible to this in the coop but so others cannot get to the littles

The Momma is gone. She was a great mother too. Very protective of her babies. I didn't see what took her. she was a tiny chicken.

So sorry I see my ducks going after anything small be it frogs or what ever. The chicks didn’t stand a Chance sad but happy you saved 6. Very sorry about mama. Most likely when she was taken that started it all the chicks being so tiny an no one to defend them.

Maybe shes just hiding. Put the chicks in a brooder until you find her, or until you can place them with another broody hen. Separate the ducks and chickens if you can.

yes you need to separate the peeps but if you have another broody s might be able to mover them to her in the night just keep them away from the other birds
