My ducks butt..?

Okay, I'll get it done. My insurance company probably is going to disown me after all these claims lol..

Just to note she has always done the panting thing, probably from 3 weeks old. She constantly had us worried she was overheating, but now...I think it could just also be a reaction to a certain situation or different environment.

It was an idea... wish I knew more to help...

You've been remarkably helpful, and I always appreciate it! :hugs

If you think of anything else I should ask or get done please let me know. Gonna shoot to get her in on Thursday.

Would it help to weigh every couple days? Not sure how rapidly the fluid would come back. If she remains the same and swelling goes down I guess it would be a good sign treatment is working.

Leaving our other vet now. No parasites in the fecal. No abnormalities in her x-ray. Just little fluid that will subside with time. Getting her off the amoxicillin because the pill is too hard to get her to swallow and she is not getting the fill benefits when we syringe it. So we are going baytril.

Doing a culture as well just in case.

Good deal... :fl for her and you...

The fluid seems consistent with what I have heard about EYP and reproductive problems.
It's a bit of both actually. Ascites - fluid in peritoneal cavity. Liver failure would lead to ascites as the liver is a major cleanser for blood stream besides kidneys . Not sure about waterfowl anatomy, and not a vet.... but in thinking about human anatomy, it's got be similar if it's the same wording.

Fluid did not look like pus. Is more consistent with ascites. Glad she got started on abt therapy and what do you know.....you can give Meloxicam to ducks for pain control...learn something new each day!:)
