Ever since the demise of Roo, our leghorn rooster. The hens have gotten
very "affectionate" with me especially when I scratch their back. I posted
previously about this but do not want to reference that post.

Now my Easter egger has taken it to far. She not only does the hen squat
but, let's just say, reveals her vent to me. When I'm done giving her a little
back scratch, NOTHING MORE, she does the get up and shake thing.

We have a ton of chicks turning out to be roos so the hens will be happy
again by late winter, or at least not frustrated in a married couple sort of way.

If I'm making no sense it is because I'm trying to convey this message
in the most gentle sorta way.

My hens wanna........

yes, when I pet my roosterless hens and they give me the butt in the air I do feel kind of sorry for them but then they give me the shake that says
"ahhh.... thank you, I needed that!"

Don't pet or scratch her back anymore, birds take that sexually. There's a reason she enjoyed those scratches. I learned this when I got my parrot 2 years ago. Hope this helps,

Mine do the same thing...and my parents just think that my birds are especially easy to handle. Like I've somehow raised the perfect chickens.

My Conure gets "frisky" when I pet her in certain ways. She will also
let off a scent that must be a sexual thing.

The birds seem to like to have their back scratched even though they may take
it sexually. It's sorta cute and I don't have spurs so they don't get hurt.

Is there a reason not to do it???

I guess not, I just don't. I feel it's kind of gross, me petting her, but her taking it a completely different way.

When a roo is doo-ing the deed where is he? On her back kneeding her with his feet. Isn't that what you are doing when you are petting and stroking her?

You should change your nic to "BigDaddyRoo". LOL
