Day 10- They were not as wiggly today hopefully I just caught them when they were in a slower spot in their day.

Egg1 Moving about in the center.

Egg2 Wiggling Saw a head or wing moving.

Egg3 Very Little wiggling today in this one.

Egg4 Wiggling deeper in the eggs

Egg6 Deep wiggling in the belly of the egg.

Day 11- they were very active again tonight. Yay!!! They are seemingly happy little egglets.

Do BEI really have a hatch day of 26 days?? I thought mine looked a little bit more developed than some of the images I have been looking at (I’m on day 8 right now).

A lot of bantam ducks hatch on day 26 or 27, BEI included

So happy I stumbled onto this thread!! I have been researching for WEEKS now (I lost count of how many threads I've read on this site!!!) and somehow missed that bantam ducks (and chickens too apparenty!) have different hatch days. Jeez! That would have been a wreck!!


Can't wait to see your ducklings @Knighstar679 !! Your babies are a few days ahead of mine. It looks like we have the same number of eggs too.

I thought others might be looking for information on Black East Indies. I was reading everything I could but because there wasn’t much on them started reading up on Calls instead to get as much information as I could to hatch them out.

Day 12- eggs seem really happy today. I read that they didn’t do so well in auto turners, but it seems my little egglets like it lots. The only thing so far is I am not sure that the air cell is getting big enough on the time scale. I will be measuring Sunday to be sure.

They were super active tonight. Was very exciting to watch I am almost tempted to put videos up on YouTube

What kind of incubator are you using? Are you incubating them vertically fat end up and turning side to side (like in that shipped egg thread by Pete) or sideways? I’ve been doing them vertically, but I don’t think I have any issues with my air sacs, so I might switch it to an automatic turner (I need to research this more first of course!).

I am doing fat end up. Never had good luck turning on their side.
