My Easy Indie Adventure

Maybe a little small, but not too bad. What’s your humidity running?
If you think they are too small, misting, or removing the bloom with a slightly dampened sponge will usually help draw more moisture out.

Do BEI hatch in 24 days??

My humidity has been in the 30% range but my house humidity was at 50-60% most of the week with all the rain. I managed to get my humidity down to the mid-20’s today.

Someone told me BEI hatch around day 26. I just worry about air cells because these are my first small size ducks. My biggest worry is they will be similar to hatching calls. Which given the lack of information online on incubating these eggs in an incubator seems valid.

Its funny, they are such gorgeous ducks, you'd think there would be more information about them. I think they will be fine! :)
Lots of information on calls but the actual bantam ducks it is hard to find information for. Or even people with eggs or birds to sell. I know ducklings of this size are hard to ship so those are impossible to find as well.

Day 17- of my East Indie Adventures. I have been hand turning as many times a day as I can. Eggs are starting to look just about full. I am going completely dry incubation for now plus a light misting.

Movement looks like it’s getting hard in these little egglets.

BEI set two is also going on day 5. It looks like there is growth going on in all 7 eggs. We will see if they keep going.

I remember someone saying they hadn’t seen an egg with a circle of red that hadn’t red ringed. This one here has a red ring of veins and a heart beat.

Day 18- cleaned off bloom on egg 4 to try and help with air cell growth. Humidity ended going up when it started raining today. But not adding any water until lockdown. I am still misting nightly. Air cells are are growing steadily.

Yes I am super excited. Is misting once a day good enough?

I don’t mist my call duck eggs (unless air cells are too small) but Storeys Guide to Ducks says they found better results with misting once a day, up to about 5 days prior to hatch.

So I’d just go with what you’ve been doing, it seems to be working. :)

Day 19- it looks like it is getting small in these eggs. Looks also like there is a lot of yolk for them to grow on still. I have seen a little bill moving around not poking anything yet just moving. My incubator says 5 days my spreadsheet says seven so I think I just set it up to count down to lockdown.

Here is also one from my day 7 candle of batch two.
You can see a little eye in this one really well.
