My Eggs from Sonew arrived!! I HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!!!

The detached air cell -I have to be honest and say I never paid attention to that-I couldnt tell when I first started ordering eggs -I wouldnt know what one looks like?? :-( so I dont pay attention now-I usually get worried about temp and humidity-but thats just me. Alot of people look for that but after reading so many posts about people hatchng out babies despite the detachment it gave me hope so I ( IMO) choose to ignore-keeps me positive longer:) Im so sorry they arrived like that:-( I do hope your goingto try all of them anyway??/ Unfortunately, I have no pink eggs:-( That is on my "hunt" list for Spring for sure-that's the one color Im missing in my eggs. Thank you for the olive egg compliment-I was not expecting them to come out so dark either. In fact, The day I got my first one-I almost didn't see it -it blended into the hay I walked by twice before I went back to double check-and there she was!!! All the olive eggs ( and someone who bought eggs from me speak up if Im wrong) have hatched out:) adorable babies too..Let me hunt down a thread with some babies I can show you from their hatches-

Theres many people who use an egg carton to put eggs into while in the bator-I have yet to do that-but Im going to try next hatch just to see if there's a difference. Always pointy end down-I never heard about no turning for three days-I have a turner, so it has always been on the minute I put the eggs in. I pull turner out on the morning of day 18 for lockdown. If you can get your temps between 99.5 and 102 max you should be fine. The humidity can be low 25-40% the first 2 1/2 weeks -its day 18 that the hunidty gets cranked up to 75-80%. Right now my humidty is at 31% and Im not worried a bit. Temp 100.4 and steady so far-but I have had alot of spikes from day 1 and God must be on my side because at day 16 all 23 are growing like weeds in those eggs:)

sonew, how did you ship eggs from where you are and not have them freeze? I would love to start hatching but I'm afraid they will freeze in transit.

Ive been very lucky and keep a good eye on weather conditions here and where they are going. I've had to delay orders by a day here or there or send orders earlier than expected because of it-so far Knock on wood 13 orders shipped in 4 weeks not one problem with freezing or breaking...knock knock knock!!!! KNOCK!!! Im sure I wont be able to do it much longer though:-(

I have hatched several that were detached and found the loss handeling the better. I do not remove from the egg turner to candle, I just shine my light through the top of the eggs, and refuse to do thay even till about the 12th day. Mine that have been detached seem to be much more fragile and any bump or shake could damage them even further. Good luck with you hatch.

Oh, I am definitely trying them all. I still think I have a good chance at it because I see that some people have hatched them out of eggs with detached cells. I know it's not your fault and I am not upset at all! I was worried about them freezing, too, because we haven't been above freezing here for days and I am having to change waterers and stuff multiple times a day to keep water for all the animals. But they did just fine as far as temp.

A detached aircell is very easy to see on the lighter colors. It looks like a floating bubble that moves everytime you move the egg. I looked at pictures on line to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Imagine holding a level and how the bubble moves to the center. That's kind of what you see. And there's no cell at the end unless the bubble moves there. As I said this was only my second time candling, but it's so easy to see.

I marked the ones that are detached for sure with a D and will be very careful not to bump or turn for the first three days. I'll put them in a separate carton, keeping them straight up. The others I'll put in another carton and turn as usual. I'm going to treat the olives as if they are detached, just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for sharing your experience and success with this. I appreciate it!

Ill have to seriously look at my eggs coming next week. Now I have to see it-it will drive me nuts. so If I candle eggs when I recieve them and move them slightly the air cell will move with the movement of the egg-that sounds simple enough to check-hmm Im going to check my eggs sitting on counter just to wiggle them around -they are for eating so I dont care if I detach the air cells-actually Im going to shake them up a little and see how hard you have to handle them for it to become detached!

It'll move freely and easily from one end or side of the egg to another if it's detached. And I don't think you have to do it very hard for it to happen... I'm about to try a refrigerator egg just to see. Cause I think I need to know. LOL

ok I took a polish egg-that I was using for eating because it has dirty marks on it..LOL.. I shook the living tar out of it. The air cell didnt detach!! Maybe I still dont know what the heck Im looking for. I havent bought store eggs in a looong time and the other eggs are all dark so I cant see--so I shook the polish again and finally got what I think is a detached air cell?? I really had to shake the snot out of that rascal!
