I am putting some of my mutts in with my ordered eggs this weekend. They will go in with Sonew's EE's, Olives, Silkies & Cochins. Also orders from two other BYCers.

chicks can be pretty tough boogers - if they want hatched out, they shall be hatched out%Pr

Thanks, Little Grey Bantam! this post is old and my chicks hatched in the last two days. We ended up with 5 that developed, 3 that made it to hatch. None from the detached cell eggs, but I'd still try them again because I know that sometimes they do develop.

I think I'm gonna have a house chicken!! If I could housebreak this silkie, I would. She's nestld on my shoulder up under my hair for a good while tonight. She nuzzles right up, fluffs my hair, nips my neck a little and then makes this contented little chirping sound and goes to sleep! How sweet is that???

She must be from the hen that purrs..seriously I have a hen that purrs and her whole body shakes when she does it-she does it in her sleep too...so sweet when she getting lovings!

Yep, that's the sound. A high pitched kitty.

I'm serious, if I could housetrain her I'd keep her in. My husband thinks I am crazy.

I'm a little worried about Rachel. She acts sluggish and she can walk well now but usually chooses to "scoot" kind of half squatting. She also keeps her eyes closed almost all the time. I've had a chick like that before, a Polish, and it only lived a few days. I hope she's ok. I'm going to get some vitamins for her tomorrow... I don't have any here.

I have a chicken that growls... like literally. If she goes broody and I reach under her she growls like a cat. It's the funniest thing! I concur with the poly-vi-sol, that stuff is like a chicken miracle drug...
