I put a batch of eggs in the incubator. This my first time incubating eggs. On day 23 a chick started hatching but dies on day 24 I cracked an egg open and there was a fully formed chick. Any Ideas what went wrong and why they aren't hatching. My temp is 100F and I have enough humidity and have followed the instructions. I will boost the temp up and see what will happen. If they don't hatch by day 25 should I throw them out? Will appreciate any help
Thanks

It's important to have an independent, calibrated thermometer and hygrometer so that the temperature and humidity can be accurately monitored. You need to monitor the air cells in the eggs by candling them regularly and adjust the humidity if necessary as every set-up/climate is different and this affects how you need to incubate. There is no 'one size fits all' in this hobby.

You can candle them to see if there is any hope. Good eggs will look full and dark right up to the air cell. Eggs that have died will have a watery gap between the dead chick and the air cell with no veins visible.

Thanks, I didn't see any veins so I'm assuming they are dead. You think I should give them another day? They are starting to smell bad.

If they are smelling bad then that's not a good sign unfortunately. Once you figure out what works for your incubator you'll have a lot more success. :hugs
