My eggs will be shipped tomorrow......

I'm so excited, my first shipped eggs are being sent out tomorrow. 6 Silver Laced Wyandotts, 6 Blue Orpingtons, 6 Columbian Cochins, & 6 White D'uccle. I have the bator all warmed up and ready, just waiting on the eggs. I have never hatched in the winter time before, wish me luck.

I am very excited for you. I have not hatched yet either, but really want to do so soon. Please keep us posted on the experience and out come. Good Luck!

With everything that can happen to shipped eggs, I'd make the 43 mile drive.

I agree.Id drive.... .
Might be less damage but sitll the PO offices are rough with the packages and dont look if they are eggs or not ...too busy and it will probably sit in a truck over night in cold.
I already drove 3 1/2 hours one way to get some eggs.just so i had a better hatch. Were rather expensive eggs. though
Got 4 healthy hatched out of 7 and One other died pipping
Shipped on 7 i might have gotten one maybe 2 if i was REALLY lucky but my earlier shipments with small amounts of eggs like 6...got ZERO
Shipped usually get 3-5 out of 12-14 eggs.
BUT I never did have one shipped from so close so hopefully they will be fine for you with less trauma on th shorter ride.
GOOD LUCK!!!.

I think some of the air cells might be damaged but they have been in the incubator for about a day. What do I do if I leave them in a cold room wouldnt it kill them?

How cold? If the bator is on ..then they should be ok but it may hurt your bator to fight the cold as it trys to get to 99.5 and stay there It HAS tp be at 99..5-100 for good hatch
You arent supposed to have the bator in really cold or really hot room conditions
Can you put a blanket or something around it?
Did you leave them sitting up in an egg carton when you set them ?If they are laying down only one day i would get an egg carton and put them gentley in it big end up.
If its a turner i wouldnt turn it on for a week.they may settle down in a few days or so
I would put them in an egg carton with the bottom of each egg hole cut out so they can breath and leave them for a week at least.in there
Dont candle until day 7 at least or maybe even day 10 so the air cells can settle well
..

You don't under stand I read that if the air cells are broken then leave them in a cold room for 24 hours so they can set

Oh ok!
Did you read Sallys directions? Its a few replys back on this thread post #8 good advice.
A room 65 degree is that what you mean by cold?
I wouldnt put them in a room lower than 55 what you dont want at first is to have them at 90 and start to incubate right when you get them. .unitl the air cell gets leveled a little while..
