My incubator is my broodies. I have a speckled sussex that would sit for that long waiting for an egg to hatch. Wouldn't that be a sight...a little SS perched upon a big ole emu egg

I have all mutt hens. This is their first year laying-just started a couple of months ago-but I don't think they would sit. That would be nice though. We are new to incubating and are giong to fill 2 incubators this week with chicken and duck eggs. Should be exciting!!

Congratulations! Emu chicks are so cute with their striping. My male emu, Enoch, has been sitting on his nest since Dec 29th. I hadn't really wanted to let him have a nest this year, but they hid their eggs from me.

I just came from a small Alpaca/goat/one oreo cow/horses/chickens/white ducks, in other words you name it, the lady had it, farm, where I ended up buying four Alpacas from her for a good deal, and in the process of meeting the other animals, my husband and I was absolutely charmed by her Emu's. Emmy and Ernie, not a mated pair AT ALL, Emmy pecked at Ernie everytime he came close to her; but he didn't mind, as he was trying to eat my earrings and pick the notebook out of my pocket. . .are they hard to hatch, or would someone have babies close to Midwestern Illinois they would like to sell? I NEVER could eat what I raise, so they would be strictly pets . . .we have a huge area fenced off for the Alpaca's when we get the barn done and move them home, the emu's would fit right in . . .later this spring!
