My fancy, home made incubator.

No worries, 3 days I got, 80 egg bator/hatcher I need. It's the perfect size for me. By the way, I saw a post here somewhere that showed how drilling a few holes in the cover on a hot water heater thermo that can be had at Lowes for around 9 bucks made it hold temps to within a degree. All the guy did was drill three holes in the cover.

That makes perfect sense. I think if you can do that in and around 300 you'll do some knockout business. Now I just have to save up, don't I - because now I have a new want it. LOL.

editor's side note. Dimensions not demolitions unless you're going to blow it up - grin...

Mallen: i saw the same post and tried a fish heater and that water heater design with this build. but the thermo i found in a space heater was a lot better. it regulated temp a lot better. anyhow how much did you pay for your build? On a side note, i could duplicate the dickey incubator to the label on the front and still sell it a hundred dollars cheaper then there asking. The 1/2 painted plywood would cost me about 15 dollars vs. the 70 dollars i am spending with the solid wood and sealer, for example. the purpose here is that i want to offer a system that you can put in your living room with a lamp on top. Also all of the parts that i use are very low in sound. I don't know if it's on half the time. That's why i put led indicators on the cabinet.

walkswithdog: well your looking at a better price, maybe, if you keep talking like you do. There are so many people out there trying to get something for nothing that it's hard to contend with. all i want is to build something that people want and appreciate for as little as possible. But i still have to make a small wadge and pay for the up keep of my tools. Before the economy fell, i was clearing 2500 dollars a week now i am renting my knowledge and tools out for 10-12 dollars an hour. to ask someone to front there knowledge and tool expenses for there own savings is exploitation and that's very, very frustrating. I am confident that i am offering a better product that even toughs on the market. Even if i ask people to match the price for a better build then there still getting what they pay for. Not to mention if it comes down to it i will start a web site and sell replacement parts for these builds for cost. But for now i will personally guaranty the builds and secure it with my personal address and telephone number and offer a 1 years warranty against defects. I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut in this economy. Not to mention trying to keep busy to get my wife off my back, which is a hole nother story. It's hard when you spent the last 20 some odd years in a trade, then have to find an alternative to make a living.

Well heck I am not a master carpenter so I was saving for a dickey/but i would much rather pay you 300 for the 2 tray w/hatching tray on bottom so I am saving for yours if you are really going to make some count me in just pm me with more details when closer to target date I will subscribe to this thread!

Very well, i will e-mail you when i complete the build. I will know then for sure if i can keep the build under 300 for sure. Of course this doesn't include the shipping that will have to be extra. I am located in Murphy, nc you have the dimensions from the earlier post if you want to check ups for cost. Actually you, and anyone else for that matter can e-mail me at [email protected] with your specifics. Might need to let me know what type of wood whether or not you want it finished or unfinished type of themo etc.

Your word backing the incubator for a year and giving a name and phone number for replacement parts in case something goes wrong is good enough for me my friend. I want to be first on the list for the incubator we're speaking of, 2 tray with auto turner and a hatcher ... yada yada yada ... and so on. If you can build it for $300 or less I'll buy it, happily!

Shipping via UPS should not be that much, so consider it a done deal.

Best Regards,

Matt
PS. Hope you have a PayPal account, but if not that's OK.

I love this thread. I totally agree that there has got to be a market for the desktop-sized, two-tray furniture-quality incubator. I want another incubator for hatching in and I'm half convinced I'm going to order one of these from you when I'm ready.

Personally, I would love the option to finish the wood to match decor. Also, I would want a high quality electronic thermostat--is it possible to get one that has a digital read-out, so you can just set it to, say, 99.5 degrees and expect it to maintain at that temp? And easy to replace parts.

I'm not ready to order one now, but I just wanted to chime in so you could begin to gauge what kind of a market there might be for that.

Good luck with it!

i would say yes iamacuriouscat. If there is a model out there that has a electronic thermo with a digital setting then i can order from them as a replacement part and incorporate it into my cabinet. Keep an eye out and let me know if you see a control that you like and make note of it. If all goes well then i will build it for you. good news is that your in my state so shipping will be cheap.
