My fancy, home made incubator.

You might want to look at the one I'm using on my BYC page. It comes as a kit but is very easy to build and is very cheap. It needs a small 12v supply but switches mains equipment on/off. On test, it switched back on within 3 seconds of switching off.
I love these Maplins kits. I've just built the light sensor one and coupled it up to an electric aerial in my coop to open/close the pop door. After adjusting last night it closed OK but I was a little worried about this morning. No need. I went out at 7.00am this morning and the door was open and the chooks were out and happily feeding.

Nice job on the bator by the way.

Knoxville??. Aint Knoxville closer to Murphy than it is to Asheville. Either way, I am in Asheville, ( actually BlackMnt) Monday thru Thursday every week. I'll hual as many as I can in the trunk of my Escort. It it gets to be to many for the Escort, I own a truck. We'll get them to everybody somehow.

Just for Info, Murphy Nc is about 100 +/- miles from Atlanta, Ga., Asheville Nc, Chattanooga Tn, Knoxville Tn, and Greenville Sc. 2hrs from just about anywhere, and 100 miles from nowhere. So if you like to make a road trip, or look at Fall colors next month, come to Murphy and pickup a bator, just preorder first so he can have it built.

Disclaimer and JFI, I aint making anything off of these bators and have nothing to do with the building of them, and dont expect to profit off of them in any way. I am over there kicking him in the rear and pushing him to get these things on the market. He is the one doing all the work.

Wow, sweet! That is gorgeous. One question:

It looks like the window offers an excellent view of the eggs. But I can't tell if it will offer a good view of the hatching tray (which is, of course, the most fun part to watch!). Does it?

It's beautiful.

And wow, you're quick!

I thought of the same thing. But you can see the harch tray still. Either way you turn to door works well. I worked as fast as i could in order to see how much it would cost to mass produce them. i am tired.

I bet you're beat, that was really quick work! I love the idea of using one of those as an end table. They're certainly nice enough. Crazy busy weekend here--4th graders Science project to supervise and DH b-day. I'll get going on the Excel stuff Monday or Tuesday.

Well, Mudd here's the deal, in Asheville (and I love the drive there) there's this little beer/ale shop downtown. And I go there about once every two months to stock up on beer I can't get in TN... SOOOOOOO if I combine road trip to asheville for incubator with a stop downtown ........... LOL. Then I get my microbrew fix as well.

Well just to update on the progress of the eggs in the 300 egg incubator.I candled the eggs i have in it just now and all but two look like there developing. I'm excited. Ne1 want to but some jersey giant or rhode island red chicks?

Makes perfect sense to Me;)

I love your work. I have a Dickey and if I could make a suggestion on what would be perfect for me is like WWD suggested a smaller not as deep bator. I have long arms but it is so deep from front to back I can't hardly get my arms to the back to wipe it down. That is frustrating for me. I really dont need one that hold 300 eggs at a time. 200 would be great, or 150. The fridge size sounds good. I think you can order the electric thermostat on the dicki website.
