My fancy, home made incubator.

I think you'll have a good market for the small one as well as the larger here on BYC, and get to stay out of your wife's hair. LOL.

It'll be more profitable once you get the build down pat and it goes more quickly. I'm sorry you're not at your real work but glad we get you instead.

Most places that offer custom stains, pick just four or five generic colors to pick from. You might try the natural/clear, a cherry, and a medium oak if you want to keep it in stock in bulk eventually, or simply let people actually custom pick from one of the stain makers lines and charge them for what they choose. Some people will pay more to pick exactly what they want. It's worth considering.

I wish you the best of luck, now I have to start saving egg money

I visited Chris this evening. The large incubator he built was originally for me, but after seeing the smaller one, man I want one of those too!!!!. Hopefully he will post some pics of it soon.

These incubators should last a lifetime and look good doing it. He should build a pair and use them for end tables in his living room, they look that good. Better yet, an incubator on one end and a matching hatcher on the other.

Hey... that's not fair!! You got to see my incubator before I did, lol!! I can't wait to get a look at it so I'm hoping he posts some photos also.

I will tell you up front, I'm trying to talk him out of it and let him build you another one.. Might I interest you in a 300 egg model, hint, hint. Just kidding!!!. Last nite he had just finished putting the cabinet together and it didnt have any of the mechanics inside yet. Knowing Chris, hes probably got most of that done this morning. He's got a one track mind, once he starts somethng, he doesnt stop until its finished.

Actually the first one he built for a friend of mine. Like you, I was wanting something smaller, but he built the first one to hold 300 eggs because thats what the guy wanted. We had already discussed building something smaller for me. Looks like I am going to have to wait as it seems he has already gotten some other orders. Since it seems I have a direct link to the "Factory" I think I am going to try something special for my personal Bator. I can wait to get mine built. I took him the Dickey that his are modeled after, I can always get it back if I need to hatch some chicks, and I have a Brisnea for hatching just a few.

I think the 96 egg model will be a hit and I am trying to convince him to build a matching hatcher to go with it. As for craftmanship, there is currently nothing on the market that even comes close to what Chris is building. These incubators would feel right at home as living room furniture. Put one at the end of your couch and place a lamp on top, or as a nitestand beside your bed. They look that good.

Hey--I'm in NC too. Where in NC is he? If I can actually *pick up* my new incubator... I'm already thinking of it as my own! AAAAAAaaaghhhh! I don't do well with temptation...

See Chris, instant market.

But mine is going to have to be craftsman style or simple shaker flat panel doors, everything in this house is in that range. As end tables might just be too useful... I could do that.

I get to put mine off though the third rescue Pyr just walked through my door to steal my money and my soul - she's six months and has serious skin issue poor thing.

Still even 2.50 at a time I can eventually get there.
