When I first started my flock I had 3 bantam Cochin and 3 standard Sexlinks. As of today I lost my last little bantam Cochin Ruffles. Each of my Cochin have been picked off one by one because of their short little feathery feet.
I have no clue what has been taking them but I suspect it was a stupid evil fox! I want that fox dead. She was my baby.
So my boyfriend suggested sticking poisen inside of a raw chicken and leaving it out overnight in the hopes of the fox ingesting the poisen. Has anyone tried this before?

A fox tried to snatch a chicken from our coop once, they probably dug a hole underneath your wiring or climbed over the fence. We got rid of the problem by placing a board over the coop’s entrance when all the chickens went in. Eventually the fox gave up and didn’t show up anymore.

So sorry I forgot to mention she got taken at 2:30 in the afternoon while free ranging. My mom was out in the yard with them but went in the house for something and heard my other chickens going crazy only a few minutes later!

Do not stick poison in a raw chicken it will Disrupt the food chain in a horrible way and it’s a slow painful death for the creature who eats the poison
Let’s say a mouse nibbles it then dies then a hawk eats the mouse and the hawk dies and then a coyotes eats it and dies....
Even if the fox eats it your killing more creatures then it’s seems
When a chicken dies from a predator it’s awful and sad and you really want to get mad at the animal who did it
And if it ate your chicken then you may need a better setup to keep those hens and cocks safe from more predators getting in
Maybe think about some more HUMANE solutions to deter the fox away from your ladies
Because killing is unnecessary when all a wild creature is trying to do is survive
Maybe try a light that turns on with motion

Do you know any local trappers? Do you have or can you get a game camera? My problem with poison is you can bait something that you don't intend.
