I went to the feed store yesterday, knowing that they were getting in new chicks yesterday for the first time in a few weeks.
They order from Privett Hatchery, as it's right here in New Mexico. I was expecting to get "sensible" layers like australorps or red sex-links. But when I saw the variety that they had, I couldn't get any plain ol' layers. I was bad and gave in to foo foo chickens.
They'd better lay some eggs, at least...
I got 6 blue wyandottes!
I never thought they'd have those, and I'm so excited! Blue is my favorite color of chickens.
I got 6 "giant" cochins.
I do hope they turn out to be giant, but I'll be surprised if they are. I think 3 are splash. Two are either black or blue, but I'm leaning toward black. And one is buff.

Black or blue:
I got 2 light brahmas.
I've never had brahmas, and I just love the columbian pattern. So we'll see how they do. One has a big black spot on top of her head, and the other has a pencil point spot on her head. Both are starting to get a bit of dark in their first little wing feathers. Do head spots mean anything as far as adult coloring?
Also, does anyone have pics of these breeds from Privett that they've gotten? THANKS!
