. Today is day three with my Foxy and I'm getting very excited. I don't know how I'm going to manage to be patience for the next 18 (?) days. I hand feed her again today and I put a blanket on her back because the poor hen was shaking. Call me crazy but I even put my baby video monitor in the coop so I can see her at all times. When I put her out to eat and, I was hoping to drink, the first place she run to was the sand box and did a “dust bath”. She didn’t drink any water, and I don’t remember her drinking any yesterday either, but she did eat all the food I give her in my hand. So, now I have to wait and see, and make sure that she will be ok

There are lots of different coop setups. some just thrown together that work fine, and some that are very "high class". But yours takes coops to a whole different level! It's like some people build houses that are so "not cookie cutter" filled with the builders personality. I've seen lots of that type houses in California. You don't live in CA do you? So much of your personality in the coop. It's great! I do have one question, what type of grass do you use for the salad bar? I was thinking of using rye as it is quick growing and tall.

I used rye grass at first as well and I have pros and cons about it. Pros, grows fast and chickens love it, cons, being a grain it can get moldy on the bottom. I noticed on parts of my salad bar where there was chicken poop stuck to the grass that had mold on it. So I removed the rye grass from all beds and planted Kentucky Tall Fescue grass. That worked much better. I also changed the top of raise beds. Initially I had the net attached directly to the base frame, but the problem with that was that I could never reach the ground if I wanted to. So I had my husband making me out of 2x2’s door like frames that are hinged to the base frame. I attached the net to the door frame, and now I can open the raise bed, it comes in handy if you want to plant something else besides grass.
