Underweight help

I have a 4 year old Silkie rooster (Larry) that just got back from the vet. He was diagnosed with a severe respiratory infection (and possibly worms? He got a dewormer too). He lost weight very rapidly in the few days I had to wait for an available avian vet—he is only 1.7 pounds now. He's been on a 30% gamebird starter the last 3 days. Any other recommendations to help put some weight on him (if there's anything better besides eggs?)

Some things I like to give my chickens to gain weight is, yogurt, mashed banana (I had to use a syringe down the throat to get my underweight chicken to eat it, just make sure you go slow.) You can add some water to the dry feed, just make sure that his crop doesn't get stuck. Some bread and wet cornbread can help him to gain weight. Goodluck!

Every hole on his head is leaking right now including his mouth being thick with mucus. He can't eat dry food right now, he'll just start choking. So all of his food is a mash right now regardless, so it's easier for him to eat. Luckily he has a healthy appetite. Perhaps I'll try making a banana-feed mash

I have Kaytee Baby Parrot Feed Plus Fat for nursing sick/underweight silkies we've rescued. If you want to try that, pet stores and most Walmarts have it, as does Amazon and Chewy.

I mix a few teaspoons of that powder into triple the amount of crumbles, a raw egg yolk, a couple drops of Poultry Cell vitamins, and water.
