Hey all, i had a question for ya!

I have two quail, dot and pep, which i named before realizing their gender, they came from two separate hatches way back last year in the early spring. Dot recently started laying eggs so i decided to wait and see if they were fertile, and so far i have 6 potential babies and two new eggs today! :D

my question though, is how far do they have to hatch day after you can't see anything in the egg?

I've been candling them because my 5 year old is absolutely ecstatic to see his quail having babies (yes he claimed them as him and he does a great job taking care of them too!) but i don't know how long she's been sitting on them for. I was throwing out cracked eggs that got stepped on so they are all pretty mixed but i have three so far that when i candle them, i can't see a thing but the little air bubble at the end. so i was curious how long it took past that point for them to hatch? i know the other 3 have veins for sure so i'm positive something is for sure in them lol but i wanna be extra careful sense this is the very first time i've ever had a hen with eggs and dot is a good mama and not mean at all. She doesn't freak out when we check them and she's a very calm girl for sure! I would hate to hurt her chances!

EDIT: i just got done taking out 5 of the 9. float tested them and two that has visible veins floated right, two that are darker than i can see were halfway and the rest just sank. I go through and open them with my son and three progressed but only by like a 24 hour period and the rest were duds. but i got them labled and i'm waiting it out to see :)

Thanks in advance!
