my first broody silkie broods at the wrong time. help needed

My silkie is broody for sure and since my book tells me to put real eggs under three days later. that means they would hatch thanksgiving day.
that is cool but there is a prob with that, we will be most likely going to NC from GA. I don't think I could leave the chicks alone from 2 states away. something could go wrong.

could I take her off the nest now and hope she will set again a few days later?
this is my first broody hen and I really want things to go right.

It's hard to break a broody. Why don't you put grocery store eggs under her and then when your ready to set your fertile eggs, just replace them. She'll stay put until they hatch.

My Silkies stay broody for months................

They hatch anything, they will even try to hatch a golf ball.

yeah mine are on golf balls right now. I thought about just leaveing her with the balls until the right time but I don't want her to get hungry cuz they don't eat well when brooding.
