Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry that you lost 3 chicks. I will definitely candle the eggs on day 18.

Candle and smell them. If you don't see movement in the egg, but it smells horrible, I would toss it.

Seriously, I will only candle twice for a broody hatch. once between 7-10 days to removed infertile eggs and again on day 18. For incubator hatches I candle on day 7, 14, 18 and post 21 days if needed.
