Helen’s chicks are six days old. I don’t know why I feel like it’s so early, I put chicks outside at seven days old, albeit in a brooder, but Helen has decided it’s time for the wider world. The chicks navigated the large puddle by the gate and learned they can hop in and out through the fence whenever they please. I’ve worked up stopgap measures to block them from the majority of it, but I’ll have to add some hardware cloth to the bottom foot or so to keep them in while the adults are also confined.
