My First Broody!

I candled all 6 eggs that are under Charlotte and they all have veins and I saw the embryos in almost all of them!
Charlotte was very unhappy with me.

My momma was upset with me we candles her two today as well. Not look great now just waiting 6 more days or so and babies!!

Broody goes so much faster in my mind that incubator. I love it!

At the insistence of @KikisGirls I am starting a thread about my broody pullet Charlotte. Charlotte is a Golden Sebright x Old English Game Bantam pullet. For the past few days she was acting all odd. She would walk around all puffed out and make noises. I suspected that she would go broody. Well yesterday she laid her last egg and promptly went broody. So now I will be getting 6 fertile eggs this Sunday for her to hatch.

I don’t have a bright enough flashlight to candle the eggs with. I used my phone flashlight to look try and candle two eggs and I saw veins through the air cell.

I don't think barred rocks go broody, do they?

I have a broody white leg horn and they are supposed to Never go broody..... this is her second time

Did she hatch eggs the first time? If you are allowed to have a cockerel or cock I would get a White Leghorn cock and breed him to her.

Lol she did not but it was not for lack of trying..... lol last year she also chose to brood in July and I think the eggs stayed too hot cuz none of them hatched. I just got in from candling the 4 I let her keep and 2 look really good! I may give in aND let her try hatching some of the turkey eggs that are due the same day as her eggs.....let her try being a mommy
