My first chick is playing kickball with others...what do I do?

The eggs will have been 21 days tonight, but this chick was born last night. He(or better yet, she) is kicking and jumping over the unhatched eggs.

should I take him out? How soon? I am a nervous nellie.

Just leave them alone... If you can turn out the lights and make it dark the one chick will relax and not move around so much... You can also stick something through the vent whole and push the other eggs off to the sides so the new chick has a little room to move around. Soon more will be out and they will all be doing it so best just to leave them alone then to open the bator everytime and loose precious humidity... If you absolutely have to open the bator first make your bathroom hot and steamy and then take the whole bator in there to do it and work quickly...

Thats why I hatch in cartons.

Try that next time. It prevents the hatched chicks from rolling around the eggs that are trying to hatch.
