You don't necessarily net a "heat lamp" if you have a high wattage light bulb like 150 or 100 you can use that and position it over a little cardboard box without any drafts, put a small stuffed animal or feather duster something like that, in there with him, small dish of water and some food. He won't eat much today but should start drinking as soon as he is fluffed up enough to come out. They can stay in the bator for up to 48 hours but....I've never left them in mine for that long for fear of dehydration mainly.

Update:
No other eggs have hatched yet, but I could have swore that I heard heard peeping coming from one of the eggs

I set a little brooder up for him, but the poor little guy was peeping all night

I have a broody hen, can I try and give the chick to her? Or will she hurt it?
Here is a pic of his current set-up:

Here are his weird little legs. Can anyone explain this to me? He comes from 2 purebred Bantam Plymouth Rock parents but he has feathered legs! How can this be!

no don't put him with the broody hen! any big hen will be CRUEL to any chick smaller than it! as for the feathered legs, I have no clue how it happened but it is CUTE!!!!!!!

I attempted to set him next to my broody to see if she might take him, he got two hard pecks on the head poor little guy

Thankfully he is fine and doing well. I am concerned because I haven't seen him drink any water on his own. Every time I check on him I dip his beak in a couple times, but I don't know if he is getting enough.

None of the other eggs hatched (there were 3 other eggs), all fully developed chicks, one had even broken through the membrane

I don't know what happened, maybe the moisture wasn't quite right. There is one eggs left who I candled and is still alive. I put it in there a few days later than the others so it still has a chance

Pray for this egg everybody, I want little Blueberry to have a buddy!

Very cute chickie but he looks lonely. Hopefully the others hatch soon! I like the name alot too.
