My First Chicks!!

I was looking at the silver laced Wyandotte. I may grab a few from T&S they are super pretty.


They are pretty, but FWIW, lacing is a tricky trait to get as even and beautiful as the pics one sees for the laced breeds. For example, here is a beautiful SLW pulled from internet pic:

But here is my SLW (pics taken same date), and she would certainly not win any show awards! However, she has a good personality and we still think she is pretty. Also, I know sometimes the lacing can change once they molt, so maybe she will have better lacing later on.

I agree. My SLW came from Hoovers hatchery. She's pretty, but not show quality. I wouldn't trade her for anything though. On the right is my SL Polish we had to trim her crest a bit so she could see better.

It's really more about sourcing your birds from production type lines or exhibition type lines. The former are bred for quantity and the latter for quality. Lacing isn't tricky if that is what is being bred for.
No hatchery sourced bird is going to look like a prime example is a bird bred to the sop.

I think she is still extremely beautiful!!!
