I'm in Haywood Co. about 3 hours from Charlotte and about an hour plus some change from Morganton. What show?
Now, onto more pics!!
Like I said before we had to disassemble the coop before exiting the basement. So we took the base out and put it under the carport. Next we put the walls up and squared them to the floor. My wife told me the chiockens needed insulation and we just happened to have a little extra from another project.
Next I took the cedar and sheeted all the walls. Not only does it look good, it smells great!
Next I test fitted the window. I think it's going to fit nice once I get the hardware cloth up.
Lastly, I decided to cut the hole in the floor so that they could get up into the coop. The hole was already in the floor but the linoleum wasn't cut. I cut it back leaving a little extra and stapled it to the sides. Thus again, protecting the OSB board beneath.
Nice craftsmanship! Are you sure you're not a carpenter?!
The only thing I'd point out is that you may live to regret putting the chicken door in the floor. I think you may find that whatever bedding you put down on the floor of your coop ends up falling out that door frequently. You can put a low lip around the door hole to mitigate this problem somewhat.
I cut the popdoor in the side of my first coop too low and suffered a similar problem....that's how I know.
Are you planning to add hardware cloth vents on the tops of your walls? Looks like you'll have plenty of ventilation if you do.

thanks for the link. I just found out this morning I have to work that day

well, I did not know that. I went on a quick search this morning and found that you may be right. It mainly referred to the shavings but I don't see how the walls would be any different. I wonder if I painted them if that would work?

I saw it in another design and thought it was neat. Now you can see why I didn't want to put too much money into this. It's all a learning process. Thank you for all the hints. I'll put a border around the door entrance to keep the shavings in place. Do you think that will hinder the birds entry/exit if I added the lip?

Thanks! As for the birds we still don't know. People keep telling us we need Rhode Island Reds but we'll see.
