Hello everyone! Here's the coop I just finished up for my tiny urban homestead flock. I didn't follow any particular blue print, rather just worked with what I had. How'd I do? I did install a roost rod about half a foot up in the coop they use and the nesting box is just a low wide pot filled with shredded paper atm.

Good job , love your jack russel too❤️, will you let them free range? Cause that’s a tiny run ...

Absolutely. They get about 8 hours a day on .2 acres. They found, killed, and ate a snake in under a minute. I didn't even get s chance to see what it was. My puppy (Flint) does chase them a bit. I limit his outside time to only when I'm out there (own my own company/work from home). I'm always looking for suggestions tho.

Pretty nice job.
Congrats on your first home, and coop, ownership!

Go bigger.
Chicken wire is not predator proof.
Is that roof water proof?

Done. Thanks. Its texas. 100f days. Been giving them ice water and misting. Got a small fan in the mail I'm going to install once it comes in.

Also not waterproof on the lower half. Going to seal and stain it this weekend. Also I hate chicken wire and wish I had got the more expensive wire. I do plan to expand the run by another 5 x 3 to the side. I'm also going to build a little nesting box next to the door that juts out.
Pretty nice job.

Make a big nest box, chickens stand up when they lay the egg and need head room. I would not build a nest box smaller than 14" x 14" x 14" for a standard bird.

My nest box for 9 Rhode Island Red pullets is 36" wide 14" tall and 14" deep on the chicken side. I've had 5 pullets sitting at one time side by side.

I'm probably going to build a nesting box on the otherside to match. Though this isn't intended to be a long term coop, a few months maybe until I design and build one I'm actually happy with.
