just thought I would share my first coop with you all. I just got 2 Rhode Island Red chicks - I think they are about 4 weeks now? I built them a portable coop/tractor type thing. I need to put the wheels on still, but the chicks have been staying in the coop for the last 3 days now an are doing great.

I built the coop out of scrap wood/pallets that I had laying around. I had to purchase some roofing and a few 1x2s, but thats it.

Let me know what you all think.

Nice coop, but the "wire" looks like plastic. If it is, I would replace it with 1/2 inch hardware cloth (welded wire). The plastic stuff will not keep out predators. The wire should be stapled on with 1-inch staples, not the little staple gun type, but the kind you hammer in or shoot in with a pneumatic staple gun.

I used some PVC hardware cloth that I found at Home Depot because it was cheaper. I am now rethinking this decision, and will most likely replace it with real wire stuff.
