this was the coop i finished a few weeks ago....... am very happy with it so far. i have 8 hens and 1 rooster. they are 14 weeks old and we just got our first eggs two days ago. the breed description says they will lay at 22 weeks. is this normal that they are "early" ? i have red star sex links (aka golden comets and cinamon queens). i am guessing only two are laying at this point. i havent completed the nest boxes yet as they shouldnt be laying. guess i have to get going and finish !!!

Congrats!! My chickens just started laying last week also. They are about a month early. I work at a farm stand so I bring home lots of "compost" for them. I thought that might be a factor in the early laying. I have 10 red sex links also, and only 2 are laying. Sounds like we have chickens alike!!

I think it is great. I would love one like that.
My question to you is, where is the ventilation in the coop-nesting part? Do you need it?
I have been reading alot about the importance of ventilation and am wondering if you would need some in yours.
