My first coop!

Hello everyone I'm building my first chicken coop, any ideas are much appreciated! The building is 8x12 with the door on the 8 foot wall. We're just about with the roof.

I have 21 chicks, and I just want them to be happy lol. They have stolen my heart!

It looks like it is going to be nice! I am planning on a similar style for mine ... but a much more miniature version! I only have 8 (that I am keeping).

I had something smaller in mind like a chicken tractor, but it got out of hand

Nice work. Mine is similar size with a different roof approach. LOVE the overhang you got on it.

Finished the roof today, and framed in three of the walls. Frame the door tomorrow and we're ready for sheeting!

Wondering what kind of sheeting you have chosen to use. Nice progress. If you live where there is a lot of snow you may need to beef up the wall framing with some more posts. It does look like you live in a warmer location than I do though. Are you going to have windows?

We live in a dessert so I'm worried about keeping them cool in the summer. We're using old metal roof material for the siding, we're going to bury the back 3 or 4 feet which is the south side. The north side under the eve will have a two foot window across the top, I don't want to have any direct sunlight into the building.
