I got my first egg today!!! Yeewhoo!! I was a little shocked because it came from the younger chicken???
Top left is Miss Kitty, she is 7 months old, and the blue egg has to be from her right? (cream legbar).
Bottom left is Lucky, she is a 9 month old Brahma and has yet to lay an egg (I think she's supposed to lay brown eggs right?). Is she ok? Or is Miss Kitty early?
Here in Ohio we still only have 10 hours of daylight so I didn't expect either one to lay until the spring.

You are right the egg is from the cream legbar.
Hang in there for the other chicken. Brahma take longer to mature and being winter will set her back a bit.

OH and Congrats on the pretty blue eggie.

I have two Cream Legbar pullets and they have both just begun to lay, and they seem to be very enthusiastic about it, too. So congrats to us both!

I also have had a good number of Brahmas over the years. They lay cream colored eggs, by the way. But they are incredibly slow to mature, being of such ponderous dimensions. Nine months old would be the very earliest you could expect a first egg. It may be closer to ten months before you'll see it. Even eleven months, given the days are only just beginning to get long enough to stimulate the egg hormones, wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

Patience. They're both very lovely young ladies! I know you're proud of them!
